Khadija & Sulymon

When I first met Imam Adnan, at the time serving as a chaplain at our university, I encountered a lifelong mentor. His  profound wisdom rooted in the Prophetic model, his kind-hearted quips, and his commitment to my growth differentiated him from my other advisors. His knowledge of the religion combined with a grounded approach to pastoral care enhanced my college experience. There was no question that I had to ask him to officiate my nikah.  From the outset, Imam Adnan was an invaluable part of the foundations we laid in our marriage. He guided us on how to draft the terms of a marriage contract, where to procure a decorative  nikahnama, and much more.

Our family and friends were moved to tears hearing the beautiful recitation and eloquence of Imam Adnan during the ceremony. His speech was full of Qurʾanic reminders, Prophetic guidance, and anecdotal advice that we deeply cherished. He incorporated personal stories from watching me grow over the years and went out of his way to get to know my spouse to do the same with him. He takes his time to learn about each person to personalize his speech based on their trajectory, interests, and personality. Imam Adnan ensured that the sermon was a beautiful reminder of the blessings that God was bestowing upon us, and included our family in the closing supplication. When we look back at our nikah ceremony, there is not a single thing we would change.
